Putting an end to the speculations over contesting election following his ill health and hospitalizations, the Union information and broadcasting minister and sitting MP from Ludhiana Manish Tewari is all set to contest for the Lok Sabha elections.

Highly placed sources in the party said that having got a go ahead from his doctors, Tewari will reach Ludhiana today evening to carry on with his campaign that was disrupted for almost a month.

According to sources, Manish Tewari was interested for contesting from Chandigarh but Pawan Bansal's candidature had upset him. His cardiac problem further added to the dilemma.

The party workers/leaders are eagerly waiting for the final announcement of his name by the Congress.

A firts time MP, Manish Tewari, 48 had won Ludhiana seat by 1,13,706 votes in 2009.

The political scenario in Ludhiana has now made for an interesting watch. As per political observers, the entry of Phoolka, who has championed the cause of anti-Sikh riot victims and the SAD also fielding a Sikh candidate Manpreet Ayali, it looks like an advantage for sitting Congress MP Manish Tewari. And with Simarjit Singh also in the fray, it could be an uphill task for the SAD.
