MC catches 22 stray cattle heads

Continuing its drive against stray cattle, the municipal corporation here on Saturday caught 22 stray cattle from within city limits.

The cattle were caught from Bapu Dham, Mauli Jagran, Vikas Nagar, Ram Darbar, Sectors 48, 52, 38, and 24, and Dadumajra.

A source in the MC said the caught animals would not be released as domesticating cattle within municipal limits was not permissible. "A police complaint will be filed against those approaching the municipal corporation to get these animals freed," the source said.

Following recent deaths because of the stray cattle, the municipal corporation commissioner had instructed MC officials and staff to carry out cattle-catching drives regularly.
