The enforcement wing of the municipal corporation on Thursday removed 70 signboards installed in violation of the Chandigarh Advertisement Control Order in the markets of Sectors 15 and 22 here.
The MC action came after the defaulters had failed to act on notices issued to them. In the notices, the MC had asked the defaulters to remove the hoardings and advertisements within seven days.
The civic body is now planning to take action against more such defaulters. Notices are being issued to several others who have put up signboards in violation of the Advertisement Control Order. The drive was conducted under the supervision of Lalit Siwach, additional commissioner assisted by enforcement inspectors and staff.
In the notices, the MC has said that the hoardings would be removed at the cost of the owner or occupier.
