The municipal corporation (MC) had recently organised a similar camp in which loans were arranged for around 50 slum-dwellers of Labour Colony.

The MC has constructed several flats as part of the slum rehabilitation project under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) Scheme in Giaspura, Mundian Kalan and Dhandari Kalan.

In order to get a flat, a beneficiary has to pay 10% of the total cost of each flat. Executive engineer HS Bhullar said: “Nearly 478 beneficiaries of Jamuna Colony will take benefit from the camp, while slum-dwellers of Labour Colony who could not attend the last camp were also informed about the camp.”

Bhullar said officials of IDBI, Bank of India, Punjab National Bank and Punjab & Sind Bank would also participate in the camp to help slum-dwellers in opening their bank accounts for loan.
