The municipal corporation on Friday withdrew its agenda of allowing permission for advisements on two-wheelers. The civic body was planning to give a green signal to the move in the finance and contract committee (F&CC) meeting scheduled for Monday.

On April 23, HT had highlighted how the civic body was, in violation of the Motor Vehicle Act, planning to give a green signal to the permission.

At present, two-wheelers with advertisements on them can issued a challan. Most eating joints in the city use two-wheelers for home deliveries.

The two-wheelers mostly have the name of the eating joint painted on them. UT state transport authority secretary Balbir Singh Dhol said, “Two-wheelers cannot be used for commercial activity. It is clearly mentioned in the Act that advertisements cannot be displayed on two-wheelers.”
