The minimum temperature on Thursday remained one to five degrees above normal in most parts of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh even as some places in the region were engulfed in thick blanket of fog.
The mercury hovered between one to five degree Celsius above normal in the plains of Punjab and Haryana, providing much needed relief from cold conditions in the region in the past fortnight, the MET office said in Chandigarh.
Amritsar settled at a low of 5.9 degrees Celsius, which was two notches above normal.
While Karnal recorded a low of 7.3 degrees Celsius, Chandigarh had a minimum of 8 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal.
Among other places, Patiala had a low of 8.1 degrees Celsius, one degree above normal, whereas Ambala shivered at a low of 8.2 degrees Celsius, one notch above normal.
Ludhiana settled at a low of 8.4 degrees Celsius, two notches above normal, Rohtak and Narnaul settled at a low of 8.5 degree Celsius, which was four and three degrees Celsius above normal respectively.
Hisar in Haryana settled at a low of 10.3 degrees Celsius, which was five notches above normal.

Several places, including Pathankot, Bathinda, Sirsa, Adampur and Ambala remained engulfed in thick blanket of fog reducing visibility to only 800 metres.
The MET office predicted partly cloudy sky for the next two days with mist and fog at some places in the morning.
