Dr Deka was at the PGI to inaugurate a conference, and PGI director Dr YK Chawla supported his view, saying that both institutes "still have time"

The entrance examinations for MD/MS admissions in the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) and the PGI are scheduled for November 18. Both institutes have refused to reschedule their exams. AIIMS even wrote to the health ministry, saying that the PGI should reschedule its exam since it was of a much smaller scale. The clash has a large number of students in the lurch, as both the institutes are the most sought-after for post-graduate medical studies.

On Thursday, however, as he got together with his AIIMS counterpart at the seminar, the PGI director said, "There are around two months left in the examination, so we can easily find a solution. It is not a big issue."
