A day after robbery of cash and valuable items worth Rs 2 lakh from 13 shops in Manimjara, CCTV footages that were installed in some of these shops revealed that four youths came in a stolen Honda City car and took over an hour to complete the robbery.
Starting at about 4.30 am, the burglers had struck at shops in Gobindpura and broke the locks within 10 minutes. At 4.47 am, they took 10 minutes again to break the locks of another four shops. At the mori gate market in Manimajra, three masked robbers carrying hand torches came out of the stolen Honda City car and started breaking locks one by one. The footage also revealed that one of the robbers remained in the car and was giving signals by switching on and off the headlights of the car. A rehri puller and a vehicle also drove past the robbers’ car, but no one informed the police about their suspicious activities.
The activities of the robbers were recorded in the camera installed at Chavi Jewellers of Manimajra. The robbers had also tried to take away the CCTV camera, but failed to do so.
A footage recorded at a showroom in the motor market showed that the robbers reached Mani Majra at about 5.25 am and parked their car near a shop. It was seen that a young, tall and masked robber wearing white shoes came out of the car and broke the locks of the shops with an iron rod. Here again, the gang took about 12 minutes to break the lock.

{{/usCountry}}Manimajra police station SHO Charanjeet Singh Virk said they were exploring theories with the help of CCTV footage. He said it seemed that the gang had stolen a Honda City car, which was used for the purpose, in the wee hours on Monday. Meanwhile, the police were also trying to identify the robbers in Sector 32 robberies.
A planned affair
The police claimed that the robbery at mori gate, a thickly populated area, indicated that it was a planned burglary. Involvement of person from the area is suspected as it was impossible for an outsider to loot the shops of the market. Moreover, the police claimed that a PCR vehicle was also seen patrolling the area at about 4 am in one of the CCTV footages. The robbers had struck at about 4.30 am and in an area where no watchman was deployed.
