For Punjabi singer Jaz Dhami, music has no language barriers. In Chandigarh to check out the progress of the World Gym which will be opening shortly in the city, the Zulfa and High Heels- fame singer said he believed that as long as the beat or the rhythm was catchy, it was bound to gain popularity.
Referring to the popularity of the Bhangra genre, he said, “Punjabi music kidder ni chalda? It is that form of music which entertains one and all.”
Treat controversies wisely
Celebrities are often consumed in controversies especially when it is about getting less or more credit for their work than they deserved. Such was the case with Jaz and rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh post the success of the song High Heels. But this singer prefers to adopt a wise attitude towards the same. “Music vich koi bada-chota nahi honda. It’s all in one’s thinking. Honey has worked really hard for his craft and I respect him. He has helped me like my brother. There is no question of conflict as to who gets more credit because we both have benefitted from the same project. I don’t get into all this politics .. I stick to my work. I am on my own way and he’s on his,” said the 28-year-old.

For someone who travels round the year and not easily accessible, he shared that he was looking forward to interacting with his fans on his birthday, March 1 as he plans to release his most awaited single ‘Beparwaiyan’ simultaneously. The release will coincide with his brother’s franchise of World Gym in Chandigarh. A fitness freak himself, Jaz And will be the brand ambassador of the gym in India. “If you are a big fan of Zulfa, you will be a bigger fan of Beparwaiyan,” he added.

On being asked what type of songs he would like to do in future, the multi-talented artist said commercialisation was important and he worked for the masses. “I want to do something different, something important. Give me anything; Punjabi, Sufi, anything. I just want to sing!”A great admirer of singer and music-composer AR Rahman, Jaz hopes to work with one day. He revealed that his priority was to make better music and try entering the mainstream Punjabi industry as well as Bollywood. A winner of numerous international awards, a humble Jaz said his fans were his biggest award. “I am not a materialistic person. My fans are my biggest award. It feels good when the industry appreciates my work but it is an even bigger achievement when I work hard for something and see my fans enjoying it.”
