In town for the music launch of Amrik Singh Gill’s directorial debut, Kirpan: The Sword of Honor, Roshan Prince talks about being both a singer and actor and the social message his music and acting is trying to get out via the film.
“The trend in Punjabi cinema is changing and directors want singers who can act and vice-versa, as they believe this increases the range of the person’s emotions on screen; the versatility is more,” says Prince, further adding, “I have done a few films and albums as well and my journey has been quite interesting. But, there is still a lot of scope to learn.”
He is also of the view that for him both singing and acting are at an equal level, as he gets to sing in the film he’s acting in. "I can’t say one is more difficult than the other, at least for me," says he.
On how he selects his work, he says, “When I want to work on something, I just need to think if this is something I want my name associated with forever.”

{{/usCountry}}Also present at the launch were music director Gurmeet Singh, lyricist Amardeep Singh Gill, producer Rajinder Pal Singh Banwaint and Bhai Balbir Singh, who is a senior Ragi at the Golden Temple in Amritsar and has done a song in the film, says he, “I was very excited when I heard the story of this film and how it is trying to help the youth realise their rich heritage that they are so willfully ignoring. When the film team approached me I had the perfect shabad (hymn) for it.”
