Nabard sanctions Rs 64 cr loan for Haryana

DV Deshpande, chief general manager (Haryana), National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard), said a loan of Rs 64.16 crore for six rural road projects under Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF) 2013-14 has been sanctioned.

The amount has been sanctioned for widening and strengthening of 37.18 km length of roads in rural areas of two districts including Kaithal and Jhajjar, he said.

"The construction of roads would provide in all weather improved connectivity to remote villages, marketing centres (Krishi Mandis), educational and public health institutions, etc. The project is expected to generate about Rs 4.97 lakh mandays of non-recurring employment during implementation," he said.

So far, this year 41 projects involving Rs 302.81 crore have been sanctioned from Nabard, mainly for roads, bridges, drinking water supply in rural areas of Haryana.

The disbursement during the year in the state so far is Rs 86.94 crore.

With this sanction, the cumulative RIDF assistance sanctioned to the Haryana government has reached Rs 4,073.33 crore since the inception of RIDF in 1995-96. So far Rs 2,688.70 crore has been disbursed till date.
