It took fire tenders over an hour to douse the blaze and the situation was under control till the time this report was filed.

The fire broke out at about 10 pm on the first floor of the 30 Bays building, located near the Bank Square in Sector 17, housing several offices, most of them of the Haryana government. Officials of the Haryana ITI directorate’s office, which is also situated on the floor, said the flames had destroyed most of the office record on the first floor along with other items.

While the cause of the fire has yet to be ascertained, Sham Singh Chaudhary, station fire officer, Sector 32, who was at the scene soon after the fire department got a call from the PCR at about 10.05 pm, said five fire tenders arrived there within ten minutes. However, the fire tender with a hydraulic platform -cum-turntable ladder could not make it there after the latter got stuck in a tree.
