Stating this here on Wednesday, Gulzar Singh Ranike, social welfare minister, said the state government was committed to improving the social and economic status of the downtrodden and the underprivileged sections of society. A number of scholarship schemes have also been initiated for children so that they can get higher technical education, he added.
The minister said the new system of applying for scholarships would benefit genuine beneficiaries.
