Over 100 representatives of the banks took part in the interaction that was organised to sensitise them in the wake of Rs 9.8 lakh robbery case.

63-year-old Raj Kumar, a resident of Sector 17 and owner of a petrol pump in Sector 20, was robbed on March 30. He also sustained a bullet injury on his right hand.

During the interaction, Singh said: "At a conservative estimate, the city road has some `10 crore cash in transit. The carriers are regular guys, extremely vulnerable to inter-state cash snatchers. A peninsular place surrounded by three different police, the escape is easy. Most of them strike one time, leaving no footprint, making detection extremely difficult."

He added, "A way to deal with the problem is to offer customers a cash van service for collecting cash from `2 lakh onwards from the doorstep."

A group namely bank-cop was created on Whats App for improving police-bankers coordination for more effective ATM, bank and cash-in-transit security.

The event will be held in 11, 5 and 3km categories. The starting and finishing point for all three categories will be a city centre ground near Shalimar Mall, Sector 5.
