The case

Two women in Indira Colony, Sector 17, quarrelled over a minor issue on October 18, 2013. Their neighbours Deepu (25) and his cousin Pawan intervened, but the fracas turned ugly when one of the woman’s relative Govinda and his friends Suraj and Rinku clashed with Deepu and Pawan. Govinda stabbed Deepu in the stomach with Pawan thrashed badly and also being stabbed in the chest.

“The most important evidence in the case was Pawan, the eyewitness’, whose statement nailed the accused and the case ended in conviction,” said Manoj Vashisht, public prosecutor, Panchkula district courts.
