Panjab University registers 11% increase in CET applications

More than 85% of those who applied for the test, appeared for the Panjab University (PU) Common Entrance Test (CET) (under graduate courses) at different colleges and campus here on Saturday.

More than 85% of those who applied for the test, appeared for the Panjab University (PU) Common Entrance Test (CET) (under graduate courses) at different colleges and campus here on Saturday.

PU controller of examinations Prof Parvinder Singh informed that 12,216 students appeared for physics, 12,231 appeared for chemistry, 5,517 appeared for biology, 7,244 appeared for mathematics, 81 appeared for biotechnology and 590 students appeared for computer science tests, which was 87.4%, 87.5%, 89%, 86.4%, 87.6% and 70.9% respectively.

Prof Parvinder Singh informed that elaborate arrangements were made for accompanying persons' stay at the various auditoriums of the university.

PU examination staff was put up on 'may I help you' duty at various sensitive points for all type of assistance. PU security staff was also trained on how to guide the candidates so that no traffic chaos were witnessed in the university despite the large influx of the candidates.

It may be recalled that 14,964 students had applied for 408 open seats for different under graduate courses of PU under CET (UG), which is 11% more than last year. In 2014, 13,226 students had applied for the test.
