Anxious over last year's faux pas where the language of UT administrator Shivraj Patil's Independence Day speech ended up drawing a lot of flak, the officials are trying to put together a speech in Hindi that meets his expectations.
With Chandigarh Housing Board (CHB) secretary handling the additional charge of director, public relations (DPR), he would review the speech before sending it to the Governor house for a final review. Probably that's why, the housing board postponed its meeting planned for August 8 to post Independence Day.
Talking to Hindustan Times, CHB secretary and DPR MM Sabharwal said: "The board meeting was earlier planned for August 8, but with August 15 just round the corner, we will now be holding it on August 17."
Officials in the UT Administration inform that the Administrator is not in a very 'good mood' these days. Talking to Hindustan Times, a senior official from the administration said: "Over the last couple of days, the officials had to face the fury of the Governor and now, everyone is trying to stay out of his way."
The officials also inform that it is the last year's speech, the language of which ended up drawing a lot of flak, that has the Governor so perturbed this year. The Governor wants his speech in Hindi and doesn't want any previous achievements to be included. The entire day, the DPR office is busy coordinating with different departments for the inputs.

{{/usCountry}}Speaking on condition of anonymity, a senior official from the administration said: "This year's speech will focus mainly on the work in progress in different departments and not on achievements.
This is because none of the departments have any achievement to boast about, so only those projects that are underway are being included in the speech." He said: "Unfortunately, no new projects have been started as such in the last year, so more or less there is nothing specific to talk about. Keeping the Governor's expectations in mind, writing a speech and that too in Hindi appears to be a mammoth task".
