The main opposition Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday had to come up with clarification over fake Twitter and Facebook accounts of party patron Mufti Muhammad Sayeed.
“Some unscrupulous persons have opened fake Twitter and Facebook accounts in the name Sayeed,” said a PDP spokesman in Srinagar.
The party clarified that Sayeed, former chief minister and former union home minister, was not operating any Twitter and Facebook account.
“Accounts and handles attributed to the PDP patron are fake,” said the spokesman.
The party has appealed to the people that “posts on these two social networking sites on party patron’s name are not attributed to him as accounts are fake”.
The clarification has come after these fake accounts bearing the patrin’s name started shooting political messages.
