The institute will add 15 seats to each of its eight four-year BE courses, which currently has 60 seats each.

PEC University of Technology deputy director Sanjeev Sofa said that the management took the decision at a recent meeting.

PEC offers courses such as aerospace engineering, civil engineering, computer science and engineering, electrical engineering, materials and metallurgical engineering, production and industrial engineering and electronics and communication engineering, mechanical engineering.

An official at the institute said the institute had not revised its intake for a long time.

"The decision was taken keeping in view of the competition among students for getting admissions in good engineering colleges," he said, adding that the institute had requisite infrastructure for the purpose.

Officials said that the admission brochure for the new academic session would be available from the first week of July.

Admissions to BE will be based on the merit list prepared by the CBSE, in which 60% marks will be given to the JEE- 2014 score and 40% to Class 12 marks.

The PEC, however, has decided not to increase seats in its two-year Master of Engineering (ME) courses for which each branch has nearly 20 seats.
