PGI to turn road into one-way zone

To regulate traffic at the institute, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, will restrict the traffic on one of its most congested roads and make it one-way. The road is popularly known as Bhargava Auditorium road. The decision will come into effect from the coming week, according to sources.

To regulate traffic at the institute, the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, will restrict the traffic on one of its most congested roads and make it one-way.

The road is popularly known as Bhargava Auditorium road. The decision will come into effect from the coming week, according to sources.

The road lies between both research blocks of the institute. To decongest the institute, the PGIMER has also formed a committee on 'decongestion of traffic and traffic management within the PG campus'. Deputy director, administration, Chetan PS Rao is the chairman of the panel which includes Ajit Awasthi, professor at department of psychiatry, hospital superintendent PS Saini and chief security officer PC Sharma.

Turning the road into a one-way zone is the first initiative of the committee to decongest the campus. The institute is also planning to stop the traffic on its central road - in front of Kairon Block -between 9 am to 5 pm.
