Police officials said three teams had been constituted to nab the accused. Police sources said five people were interrogated for being involved earlier in a brawl with the security guards, but were let off.

The police are trying to pull up the record of mobile numbers active late at night near Sector 56 on Monday.

Two security guards were mercilessly beaten up with batons by eight people at the Chandigarh Industrial and Tourism Development Corporation (CITCO) petrol pump in Sector 56 due to an old rivalry.

The police claimed to be finding it difficult to track the accused in the absence of CCTV cameras at the pump.

Two security guards - Chander Shekhar Mishra and Surinder Pal Singh Rana - were thrashed with batons and sustained injuries on the body and face. Pepper spray was also thrown in their eyes.
