Panjab University organised a function to commemorate Prof Ruchi Ram Sahni's contribution in scientific education in Punjab on Friday.

KK Sharma, advisor to the administrator, UT, was the chief guest on the occasion. He appreciated Prof Sahni's contributions and congratulated the university's initiative of taking his good work further.
In British rule era, when Calcutta was the education hub and Mumbai, an industrial hub, he was involved in setting up Panjab University at Lahore in 1882 on the demand of public.
Prof Ashok Sahni, former dean university instructions (DUI) and professor emeritus, department of geology, Panjab University, while referring to his grandfather, Prof Sahni, said, He dealt in many ventures such as setting up sulphuric acid factory and scientific glass instruments."
Addressing the audience, vice-chancellor Prof Arun K Grover said Prof Sahni was a multi-faceted personality and Government of India would expectedly release a commemorative postal stamp in recognition of his outstanding contributions later this year.
