Computer Centre director K Tankeshwar said that the university has given its administrative approval.

“By the time funds are given for the project, we will be able to make an estimate and get the finer details of the project,” he said, adding that the project would require two or three months to be completed. The project is likely to cost PU 1 crore. The university, which plans to undertake the project under the Promotion of University Research and Scientific Excellence (PURSE) grant given by central government’s science and technology department, is awaiting the 34.8 crore from the Centre. The grant will be given for development of research infrastructure for the period 2014 to 2018. “Even if the PURSE grant is delayed or it could not be used for Wi -Fi project due to other reasons, PU will sanction funds from a different head,” said another official.
