Panjab University (PU) will host a workshop on Wednesday to create awareness about department of science and technology (DST), Government of India’s (GOI) societal research fellowship scheme, which operates under their programme KIRAN - Knowledge Involvement Research Advancement Nurturing.
The workshop is being organised by Punjab State Council for Science and Technology in collaboration with PU’s research promotion cell and National Academy of Sciences, India (NASI).
Aiming to address women scientists and technologists who wish to contribute to nation building, the workshop would include technical sessions in which experts from diverse domains such as life science, medical and engineering, would deliver talks.
About 150 women scientists, technologists, engineers, medical professionals from Punjab and Chandigarh are expected to participate in the event. The registration is being done on first-come-first-get basis.
Under the societal research fellowship scheme, DST-GOI provides research grants to female researchers especially those who have had a break in their careers and wish to return to main stream research.
Manju Sharma, NASI chairperson and former secretary, department of biotechnology, GOI, would inaugurate the workshop. KP Sinha, secretary to government of Punjab, department of science, technology and environment, would be the guest of honour for the occasion. PU vice chancellor prof Arun Kumar Grover would preside over the event.
