The Punjab government on Monday announced to give 6% hike in dearness allowance to its employees and pensioners that was due from January 1.

According to an official spokesman, the finance department issued a communique under which 6% hike in DA would be paid to employees in cash with the salary or pension of August.

Finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa said that with this rise, the rate of DA would enhance to 113% of the basic pay or pension from the earlier 107%.
Giving details, he said the arrears of 6% enhancement from January to July would be paid with the salary of October.
