Addressing an election meeting at Bela village near here, she said Punjab was once known for being the food provider of the nation, but today, it was also known for the fact that 70% youth in the state consumed drugs, which was shameful for a state which was the land of gurus.

“Parents today are scared that their children might go down the wrong path. Youth are unemployed and are becoming addicted to drugs which are readily available across Punjab,” she said.

She further alleged that Punjab government had failed to provide employment to the youth. “The Congress party has promised that it will be our responsibility to generate 10 crore jobs for young men and women of the country. Also, my focus will be to create self-help groups which will help women generate additional income to cover expenses,” the candidate said.
