The Punjab government has promoted 1,105 master-cadre teachers of various subjects as lecturers.

Education minister Sikandar Singh Maluka said it was a long-pending demand of master-cadre teachers.
With this move, the state government would be able to fill the vacant posts of lecturers in schools, he said. As for the master-cadre posts rendered vacant after promotions, these would be filled soon, he claimed.
