The authorities in the commission are not ready to accept the anomaly and instead are trying to divert the issue by saying that these are not their employees and have been hired through a contractor; and only the government can reply on the issue.

“No one has approached us. In case anyone has any problem with their working conditions, they could have come to us or could approach the government,” said commission secretary Arvinder Singh. He said the commission had hired a new contractor for providing certain services against which all these “outsourced” employees had been recruited and the contractor had mentioned a fresh recruitment date as per his records, and the commission couldn’t do much on this.

These employees include accountants, clerks, receptionists, readers, system administrators, programmers, drivers, private secretaries and a messenger.

He said that in case of seeking a job at some other organisation the experience would come in handy.

Some of the commissioners in the state information commission are also upset at the commission’s action and have suggested a rectification.

On being contacted, commission chairman SS Channy said the commission being the principal employer for all the employees must look for their welfare. He assured to look into the matter.
