Heads of top business houses and CEOs (chief executive officers) of noted companies from India and abroad will take part in the summit, deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal announced here on Friday at a press conference.

He said investment opportunities and offers from the state government would be unveiled at this summit.

"Our objective is to attract quality investment rather than focusing on quantity," he said.

On his recent trip to Bengaluru, Sukhbir said much enthusiasm was shown by major companies such as Infosys and Biocon to set up their units in Punjab. The Tata Group headed by Cyrus Mistry is visiting Amritsar on Saturday to work out modalities for setting up new ventures in the state.

He said: "It is my duty to approach industrial houses and seek investment. Punjab is being recognised as a very good investment-making state by industrialists."

Replying to a query on the Bathinda refinery, Sukhbir said Lakshmi Mittal (steel tycoon) had recently expressed satisfaction over its progress, adding that more small industries in Bathinda based on byproducts of the refinery would be set up.
