Denying reports of 'fake members' on the list of Punjab Youth Congress which concluded its polls on Sunday, Raj Kumar Kataria, election commissioner of Indian Youth Congress and in-charge of Punjab, said there were no such complaints.
There had been allegations that some Youth Akali Dal members had been found in the rolls of the Punjab Youth Congress and some candidates vying for the post of president had made "bogus" voters to muster more numbers.
However, Kataria, who briefed the press about the elections at Chandigarh on Monday said, if someone from the Youth Akali Dal wants to enrol in the Youth Congress and submits a declaration for the same, he cannot be stopped from doing so.
"There are no complaints of fake identity cards or impersonation. No one has also so far come and said they are not a member or did not want to become one. As for more voters from one area, it is owing to higher membership figure from that area. In total, 10,470 voters were found eligible and 9,749 cast their vote for election of the Punjab Youth Congress president polls on Sunday," Kataria said.
Though Kataria denied use of unfair means by candidates to notch up more voters, the Punjab returning officer for the polls, Naseeb Khan, was removed following allegations of graft.

{{/usCountry}}The highest number of voters are from the Lok Sabha constituency of Khadoor Sahib represented by PYC president candidate Kulbir Zeera, son of former minister Inderjit Zeera. Not only are scions of political families vying for the post, several senior leaders of Congress too are supporting different candidates in the high stakes polls which have also been marred by violence.
