Punjabi playwright Charandass Sidhu dead

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday mourned the demise of Punjabi playwright Dr Charandass Sidhu (75). Dr Sidhu, who was born on March 14, 1938, at Bham village in Hoshiarpur district, passed away in Delhi after a prolonged illness.

Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal on Monday mourned the demise of Punjabi playwright Dr Charandass Sidhu (75).

Dr Sidhu, who was born on March 14, 1938, at Bham village in Hoshiarpur district, passed away in Delhi after a prolonged illness. He is survived by his wife and five daughters.

Badal said Dr Sidhu would always be remembered for his everlasting contribution in the field of Punjabi theatre. He was honoured by the Sahitya Akademi, Sangeet Natak Akademi and other organisations for his thoughtful plays.
