The Sikh Regiment and the Brigade of Guards Regiment were on Thursday jointly adjudged the best marching contingents in this year's Republic Day parade under the Services category, while the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) won the coveted award in the paramilitary and auxiliary segment.

In the tableaux category, the first position went to the Maharashtra tableau, which depicted 'Wari to Pandharpur' (the pilgrimage to Pandharpur). A total of 25 tableaux, including nine from Union ministries and departments, had taken part in the parade.

While the Jharkhand tableau on Maluti temples was adjudged second, the third position was won by the Karnataka tableau on the Channapatna toys, an official statement said.

In the competitive category of items by schoolchildren, the Daang dance of Gujarat, presented by the West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur (Rajasthan), was adjudged the best.

A consolation prize was awarded to the South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur, for their portrayal of Maharashtra's Lezim dance.

The tableau presented by the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), a majestic floral depiction of 'Gaumukh', has been selected for a special prize by the jury.
