Teachers are the ones who mould and nurture the child. So, while deciding which school to choose, parents keep in mind the competence of the school’s faculty and academic record.

In the HT–C-Fore survey this year, St John’s High School, Sector 26, Chandigarh — adjudged the best school in the tricity in this survey — has scored the highest in the parameter of ‘competence of teachers’ with 85 marks, while Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh, is second and Delhi Public School (DPS), Chandigarh, is third.For all top schools, qualified teachers and in-service training of new recruits makes them the best choice for parents. "Undoubtedly, teachers are the ones who take care of students; they have to be perfect in giving care and nurturing a child’s future," said Kavita C Das, principal of St John’s High School.

She said that hand-picked teachers and their relationship with the school went a long way in making it a temple to study.

With technology taking giant leaps in the recent past, all private schools are ensuring that their teachers are constantly updated with the best of training in child-handling and care-giving. Reema Dewan, principal of DPS, Chandigarh, which has been ranked joint third along with Hansraj Public School, Panchkula, in the parameter of providing teacher care and development, said, “Subjecting teachers to the best of technologies and training them in an interesting way is what makes the teachers impart best knowledge.”

The school has been constantly organising teacher-exchange programmes to ensure that they are up-to-date with the latest in teaching. St John’s School, Chandigarh, and Bhavan Vidyalaya, Panchkula, are first and second in teacher care.
