Rebel group releases manifesto, says will end corruption in MC

The independent candidates belonging to the Kulwant Singh group formally released their 19-point agenda manifesto on Tuesday. The group has named their faction as Azaad Group, also known as the bucket group, since most of them have bucket as their election symbol.

The group declared Kulwant Singh as their leader. The manifesto also carried Kulwant’s photograph. He had contested the parliamentary elections from Fahehgarh Sahib last year on SAD ticket. After his group members were not given tickets for these civic polls, all of them decided to contest as independent candidates.

Even as it was formed a few days ago, the group is learned to have outdone the Congress and the SAD-BJP combine as both are yet are to declare their manifesto. The group has also taken a dig at their opponents stating that mainstream party leaders are not doing much for the city and hence they want to bring the change. Their manifesto says that the group will work on small issues related to the people of city. The manifesto says the group will make the city corruption free and covers points concerning the common man.

However, the plank of making city corruption free has not gone down well with those in the SAD. “Till now ,Kulwant was a SAD member and now when he turned his back, he sees corruption. They are just creating issues when there are none,” Ramoowalia said.
