Residents burn MLA's effigy after he 'slaps' municipal engineer

Residents of local Srinagar Colony burnt an effigy of Congress legislator from Barwala, Ram Niwas Ghorela after he allegedly slapped a municipal engineer of the Hisar municipal corporation on Saturday.

Residents of local Srinagar Colony burnt an effigy of Congress legislator from Barwala, Ram Niwas Ghorela after he allegedly slapped a municipal engineer of the Hisar municipal corporation on Saturday.

It is learnt that the MLA was supposed to lay the foundation stone for the construction of a cemented street but when he did not turn up after a long wait mayor Shakuntla Rajliwala did the honours.

Ghorela reached the colony late and found that the function over. He lost his cool and allegedly slapped municipal engineer Brijesh Kumar. The engineer was reportedly dragged by the personal staff of the legislator. Irked over the incident residents burnt an effigy of the MLA, while the engineer reported the matter to the police.

Meanwhile, the civic body staff have also expressed resentment over the conduct of the MLA. They met the deputy commissioner and expressed strong resentment over the incident. Though located in Hisar, Sringar Colony falls under Barwala assembly constituency.
