However, the system seems to be drawing some flak as it has slowed the pace of work in the RLA office.
Under the new system, only 200 tokens are being issued per day, where as more than 300 files were entertained under the direct system earlier.

Those who fail to get a token are told to come the next day for their official work.

A senior RLA official said, “The limit of 200 tokens per day is fixed so that applicants don’t have to wait for hours in long queues and get their work done without any hassle.”

He added, “The first 1-100 token holders are done with their of ficial work before lunch and the rest of the holder after lunch time. Those with objection on their files are allowed to submit their files before 4 pm.”

Local advocate Ajay Jagga has questioned the new system and claimed that the limited allotment of tokens was evidence that the RLA was short-staffed.

“If more than 200 people come at the same time, how will the RLA justify the new system. Proper trials were needed and people should hav been inforemd,” he said.

Another city resident Arvind Singh said: “I arrived at about 11.30am on Monday and failed to get the token. The limit of 200 token per day must be increased.”

An official at RLA asserted that new system had slowed the pace of the work but the RLA was working on increasing the additional counters that can increase daily intake to 300 tokens per day, improving the delivery system.

The Services under the electronic token system at RLA office in Sector 17 include the new registration of vehicle; renewal of vehicle registration certificate; issue of duplicate RC; Registration of other states and vehicle to be assigned new Mark; Transfer of ownership (in death cases too); for finance termination/no-objection certificates; endorsement of finance/ hypothecation agreement and Change of address on the registration certificate and other miscellaneous services.
