Rs 13 lakh looted at gunpoint in Pkl

Two private company employees were reportedly robbed of Rs 13 lakh at gunpoint in Sector 5 here on Wednesday. The incident took place when Jaswant Singh and Sanjay, both employed with Checkmate Group of Companies, after collecting cash from Zirakpur and Panchkula, were on their way to deposit it in a bank.

Two private company employees were reportedly robbed of Rs 13 lakh at gunpoint in Sector 5 here on Wednesday.

The incident took place when Jaswant Singh and Sanjay, both employed with Checkmate Group of Companies, after collecting cash from Zirakpur and Panchkula, were on their way to deposit it in a bank.

They collected Rs 13.17 lakh from Paras Down Town Square in Zirakpur, PC Jewellers and Aditya store in Sector 14 here and Vishal Mega Mart in Sector 5 here. The victims were travelling in a Maruti van without guard to a Sector-10 bank.

When they reached near Vishal Mega Mart, a white- coloured Ford Fiesta car overtook them and obstructed their way with their car. Two men, whose faces were covered with handkerchief, came up to them, flashed their pistols and snatched the bag containing the money. They fled the spot after committing the crime.

The police was informed and ACP Noopur Bishnoi, SHO of the Sector-5 police station, and ACP (Hq) Virender Sangwan reached the spot.

Jaswant Singh said the robbers were talking in Punjabi and he and Sanjay could not note down the number of the car.

May 16: An accountant was fired at and Rs 4.4 lakh was looted from him outside his employer's residence in Sector 12.

May 8: A Zirakpur-based jeweller was fired at and attempt was made to loot jewellery and cash from him on the dividing road of Sectors 10 and 11 of Panchkula city. However, the attempt failed. While fleeing, the robbers hit the jeweller with the butt of the gun.

February 24: Car-bound robbers snatched Rs 6 lakh at gunpoint from two motorcyclists in Sector 14.

January 7: A jeweller was robbed off 2.5 kg silver and 15 gm gold ornaments at gunpoint on the dividing road of Sectors 4 and 11.
