The Haryana State Information Commission has recommended a disciplinary action against deputy director of higher education department Sunita Priyadarshani for failing to appear before the commission as first appellate authority under the Right to Information Act.

According to a September-2 order issued by chief information commissioner Naresh Gulati, the commission had asked the higher education department to depute a senior official for inquiring into the disappearance of a file from the official record and initiate action against the person responsible for the lapse.

An application was filed by S Garg from Jagadhri before the SPIO of higher education to expose alleged irregularities of officials. However, the SPIO denied providing the information. When the first appeal was filed, the first appellate authority and deputy director, Sunita Priyadarshani, did not consider it.

When the matter came up for hearing before Gulati, the department officials made an excuse that the file had been misplaced.

Despite written orders of the commission, the first appellate authority failed to appear before it. Singh had blamed the then SPIO Virender Godara and dealing assistant Rajesh for the lapse.
