In a latest move, municipal corporation (MC) in SAS Nagar has decided that all those wanting to operate any trade or business in the MC limit will have to apply for a licence and pay a revised requisite fee for the same as per the Municipal Corporation Act.
The trade and business owners were still paying fee as per the Municipal Council Act and now the corporation has decided to revise the same.
MC commissioner Uma Shankar Gupta said, "With the city having a corporation now, it was necessary to revise the fee under Section 373 of the act. The fee has not been revised for decades and the present corporation has made a proposal and has put the same in public domain."
Commenting on the issue, Gupta added, "It is also mandatory to get licence for any trade now." The commissioner informed that the rates have been revised and the information has been put in public domain inviting objections. "Until now, no one has come forward with any objection and after a stipulated time frame we will finalise the said proposal," added Gupta.
Also according to the proposal, if multiple trades are running in one building, all trades will have to get licence for each trade.
