School students plant saplings to spread awareness on environment conservation

Various teachers and students expressed their views through poems that laid emphasis on the importance of planting trees. A quiz was held, followed by a small skit that was organised to highlight the significance of trees. Prizes were also given to the winners. Lakhwinder Kumar, headmaster, said the drive helped in spreading awareness on such issues among students.

VIVEKANAND SCHOOL STUDENTS PLANT SAPLINGS

The students of St Vivekanand Millennium School, Pinjore along with Chandigarh Traffic police officials planted saplings as part of “Van Mahtsov month” here in Sector 17-18 crossing on Thursday.

The students also distributed saplings to passers-by and other police officials and spread the message about the importance of planting more trees and protection of the existing trees.

Principal, Piyush Punj said 80 saplings including herbal saplings were planted across the city. The school will be holding a similar campaign in Pinjore and will be handing over the saplings to the people visiting hill stations, she added.
