The IJ Dewan Memorial Educational Workshop on 'Organs Talk: Time to Take Prevention' was attended by students of Delhi Public School, Sacred Heart Convent School and St Xavier's School in Chandigarh, and Sewa Smiti Little Angel Convent School, Ambala.

PGIMER director Dr YK Chawla inaugurated the workshop during which students were advised against drinking, smoking, driving a two-wheeler without helmet, eating junk food and excessive use of cell phones on body organs, with the help of posters and demonstrations. Actual specimens of normal and diseased organs like cirrhotic liver, smoker's lungs, lungs affected by cancer and fatty heart were shown during the workshop.

The workshop aimed to educate the students about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. A booklet on healthy lifestyle was also released and distributed among the children. Dr Daisy Sahni, head, anatomy, PGIMER called the students as health ambassadors and took three pledges from them: to apply whatever they learnt today, to share what they learnt today with at least one person and to plant a tree.
