Shatabdi to start halting in Karnal from Thursday

The Kalka-Chandigarh-New Delhi Shatabdi Express will have a halt on its route in Karnal from Thursday. Union railway minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu will flag off the train from Karnal railway station at a function here on Thursday afternoon.

An official communique said that the minister will also lay the foundation stone for additional facilities for rail passengers and facelift of the Karnal station.

Also, Prabhu will dedicate a barat ghar for the railway staff in Karnal. Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar and the local MP Ashwini Kumar Chopra are also scheduled to be present on the occasion.

Earlier, the programme was slated for July 30 but in the wake of the seven-day mourning announced due to the demise of ex-president APJ Abdul Kalam, the programme was postponed.

The Shadabdi's halt in Karnal has been a long pending demand of the local residents.
