Rohtak police have not only so far not scanned call details of Jaswanti Devi in the infamous shelter home sexual abuse case, but have also not called for questioning the four other members of NGO Bharat Vikas Sangh, of which Jaswanti was secretary.
Earlier, police had claimed that it would inquire into the role of other members of the NGO's executive committee but it has been more than a month that such step was yet to be taken.
Police had maintained that the role of these four persons associated with Jaswanti for the past nearly two decades was crucial. Their statements could have certainly helped police reach the bottom of the case, but no efforts have been made to this end, sources pointed out.
When contacted, DSP (city) Tula Ram admitted that police have not summoned the four officials of NGO so far. Asked for reasons, he maintained that the SIT constituted by the DGP could better answer this query.
According to information available, the NGO had five members in its executive committee, including president Hitender Dutta, treasurer Neta Ram of Sirohi district in Rajasthan and vice-president Munni Devi, Jaswanti and Devi Ram of Rohtak. Bharat Vikas Sangh was registered on July 1, 1994 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860.
Sources further revealed that president and treasurer were the main functionaries of the NGO and they had thorough knowledge of financial transactions and other works carried out in the past, apart from Jaswanti.
