The shortage of the printing material comes at a time when the RLA had just streamlined the process of issuing RCs and driving licences after bringing down the backlog, which is around 2,000.

For the past many months, RLA had been struggling to clear the backlog, which had forced many residents to drive on temporary numbers for months together.
“We have slowed down the work. There was shortage of printing material but the same has been taken care of. We aim to clear the pendency by weekend,” said Mahavir Kaushik, additional deputy commissioner, who is also the in charge of the Registeration and Licensing Authority (RLA), Sector 17.

Meanwhile, RLA is hoping that with hiring of additional staff, inconvenience being caused to residents will come to end.

The authority, which had been facing shortage of manpower since long, had been provided 11 new employees by the UT Red Cross wing. With additional hands at work, RLA would reopen closed counters.
