She looks younger than her years, is short in stature but has long flight of imagination. Painter and academician Jaya Namdeo Daronde, who has put up her first solo show of 48 exhibits at the newly opened IFM Art Portfolio gallery in Sector 9, has an impressive dossier of achievements.
Born and educated in Nagpur, Jaya was influenced by her mother, an amateur painter. Like any child prodigy, she too started painting nature, landscapes and then graduated to figurative and
abstract works.
She completed her masters in fine arts with Bhagyashree gold medal of Nagpur University in 2003 besides other awards.
With over 30 participations in group shows, including three in foreign countries, this modest artist, an assistant professor of fine arts at Kurukshetra University, still claims to be a “learner”.
Jaya holds an expertise in all media. Her displayed works, the 48 untitled works in oil, acrylic and mixed media, reflect a mature observation with keen sense of actuality of this young talent, as these depict human relationships and love in all its manifestations.
“I have attempted to capture and delineate the complicated mind of today’s woman, especially young girl students, their journey of love — parental, friendly or carnal, and the society’s attitude towards them as they grow in life,” says Jaya, who is quick to add, “Besides the psychological insight into their own persona as reflected in their behaviour.”

{{/usCountry}}However, her simple portrayals talk to the viewer’s eyes and heart and analyse complicated human relationships by delving into the burden of traditions in the modern world.
Her innovative ideas find expression in deeply meaningful works like Couple, executed in a pot; Fashion Models in bottles, which invariably refers to intoxication of beauty or wine; Beauty, Affection, Adam and Eve symbolising human relationships.
As if life grows for Jaya too, she finally turns to spirituality defining diverse virtues ofLord Ganesha in about 10 portraits as also some abstract works.
The painting exhibition-cum-sale is on till December 15.
