Parents of a Class 4 student of Shishu Niketan Public School, Sector 66, SAS Nagar, held a protest on the school campus on Tuesday, after their son Kaushik Saini was locked up in a classroom by his teacher on Saturday.
They also met school principal R Chadha on Tuesday as the school had reopened after remaining closed for two days.
The school has not initiated action against the concerned teacher.However, it has formed a fact-finding committee to probe the case.
The teacher, who locked the student and forgot about the incident on Saturday, is learnt to have issued a written apology to the student.
Kaushik Saini was punished by the teacher Shivani for misbehaving with another student during the last session of the day.
Sources said Kaushik had allegedly kicked another student Vineet, who belonged to his class.
Kaushik’s mother Sharda Saini said, "We were so frightened when our son did not turn up till 2:30pm as we live very close to the school. Then, we went to the school, looking for him. We found him sitting inside a classroom, which was bolted from outside.The school authorities were not ready to believe that a teacher had locked him inside a classroom. However, they accepted their mistake later. The teacher also issued a written apology."
She said though they hadn’t decided their next course of action, they would meet the school authorities on Thursday at the parent-teacher meeting.

{{/usCountry}}Kaushik’s parents visited the school with other parents and demanded an explanation from authorities.
School principal R Chadha said, "We have realised the mistake of the teacher and have formed a fact-finding committee to look into the issue. A final decision will be taken after the committee files a report. Meanwhile, the teacher has issued a written apology to the parents of the child. We regret the incident and it was just a mistake.”
He said parents had not accepted the apology and would meet him again on Thursday. He stated that the boy was not locked up for more than half an hour inside the class. He said the school had swung into action after the incident and had issued guidelines to all teachers.
He added, "The incident is unfortunate and responsibility for the event will be fixed.”
