Students’ kin accuse dept, cops of inaction over past month

Families of three Class-12 students of Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 40, who were injured in a brawl outside the school last month, have accused the education department and the police of inaction against the accused students.

Families of three Class-12 students of Government Model Senior Secondary School (GMSSS), Sector 40, who were injured in a brawl outside the school last month, have accused the education department and the police of inaction against the accused students.

Pawan Kumar, a Class-12 student of GMSSS-40, was seriously injured while two of his classmates - Deepak and Narinder Negi - sustained minor injuries after they were attacked by some outsiders on
August 12. The attack took place at around 2:30 pm outside the school.

The students were attacked by a 10-12 youngsters, allegedly at the behest of two Class-11 students, with whom the former had an argument during school hours. Rajinder Singh, Pawan’s elder brother, said despite the fact that two students were identified who were behind the attack on his brother and his classmates, the police did not take any action.

Moreover, the school authorities are also pressuring them to withdraw the complaint saying the career of the students allegedly involved will be ruined, he claimed.
