Deshraj was granted bail by the court on Thursday, but he could not be released till 2pm on Friday, as the jail officials had not received the court orders.

According to jail officials, Deshraj had packed his stuff on Thursday and was anxiously waiting since morning to leave the jail. He constantly kept asking jail staff whether bail orders from the court have come or not. He heaved a sigh of relief around 1.30pm when one of his friends came to take him back home.

Wearing cream sweater and blue jeans, Deshraj appeared tense and was whisked away by policemen to his car waiting for him outside the jail gate. The suspended cop, who was carrying a novel, did not speak to mediapersons outside the jail and at his residence in Sector 23.

The 2008-batch IPS officer was arrested on October 18 while taking Rs 1 lakh as bribe from Sector 26 police station inspector Anokh Singh for giving him a clean chit in five inquiries pending against him.
