The government has appointed retired sessions judge from Haryana CR Goel to conduct the inquiry and submit the report within 3 months to the Punjab chief minister, a spokesperson here said.

The three-member committee comprising the state chief secretary, home secretary and the advocate general decided to initiate the judicial probe into the matter. The committee was formed after different farmers and other democratic organisations had met chief secretary Rakesh Singh on April 26, demanding a thorough probe into the accusations against the farmers for the ASI’s death.
