Teacher suspended for sexual harassment of students

Taking a serious note of parents' complaints of sexual harassment of girl students, Punjab education minister Sikander Singh Maluka on Tuesday suspended Mahesh Kumar, a Punjabi teacher at Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Mahinderganj, Rajpura, with immediate effect.

Taking a serious note of parents' complaints of sexual harassment of girl students, Punjab education minister Sikander Singh Maluka on Tuesday suspended Mahesh Kumar, a Punjabi teacher at Government Senior Secondary School (GSSS), Mahinderganj, Rajpura, with immediate effect.

Maluka had earlier directed the circle education officer (CEO), Nabha, to enquire into complaints. After the submission of the inquiry report, the minister ordered the suspension of the guilty teacher.

Stating this here on Tuesday, a spokesman for the education department said the headquarters of the suspended teacher had been fixed at the office of the CEO, Nabha. The minister has also transferred the school principal to GSSS, Mangat, Ludhiana district, for not taking the matter seriously.
